Vibrant bustling city. Went for Vivid so very busy. Recommend booking for dinner if you want to try a certain restaurant. Easy to get around the city by walking, tram, bus or ferry. Went to Manly for the day. Easy to get the ferry there and back and cute place. Aquarium was good but could get very busy so choose your time wisely.

We travelled on the train to the city then caught the ferry to the Zoo. I must stress that using an opal card was a godsend - it is easy and so cheap to travel around. We then did a vivid cruise on Sydney harbour which I would highly recommend to anyone being in Sydney over the Vivid festival.

Light rail and the bus network are great.

Light rail and the bus network are great. Put 20 dollars on the opal card and travelled from Maroubra in the east to Manly in the west with plenty of stops. Great value for money. We had a big walk in Hyde park, checked out the Anzac memorial, St Marys cathedral and Hyde park barracks took a bike ride in Centennial park, shopped in down town Sydney. Just love the remnants of the almost 250 year history and the modern bustling city with spacious central parks.

When you want to be in Sydney but not in the CBD this is great. Good transport links to city via light rail (tip get off at Randwick and walk down Belmore Rd). The hotel is a beautiful old terrace full of charm in a leafy street opposite park with all mod cons. Staff were lovely and, on a really hot day, we were delighted to receive an upgrade on arrival to a room with air-conditioning. Much appreciated after we got off at the wrong light rail stop (see above!!)

The location is excellent, right in the middle of the CBD. The Queen Victoria Building is close by and it’s an easy walk to Darling Harbour. We’re walkers, so we walked everywhere - the Rocks, Chinatown, The Phantom, playing at Mrs MacQuarie’s Seat. We arrived by taxi but left on the Airport train which is only a short walk from the hotel (St James Station). Breakfast is very good. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The location was excellent for getting to and from the airport on the train. And then, you are right at Circular Quay, so close to the Opera house, The Rocks etc. Heaps of great food and sights around. The staff were so lovely, check in welcome drink, bit of chat but very efficient, check out super easy and friendly. It was also very easy to change the temp of the room, which was a great change from most hotels!
