I never got to have the breakfast at the facility because the night we arrived we had dinner. Ordered some burgers and some salad. My friend had a big live maggot in her burger and she only saw it because she always opens it up. I had to throw up my food and the staff was asking us not to leave a review for this which makes me wonder how many people it has happened to! This left a bad taste to the mouth and you can imagine how this overshadows everything. We asked to speak to the manager since we could not eat at the facility and he had the nerve to offer us a massage even with the knowledge of him knowing that we had to leave for our ferry or 50% off our next stay, why would we stay there! This was the worst facility I have ever been to! Appalling service, if i could rate a 0 I would because I wouldn’t wish anyone to stay there. They even refused to pay for our breakfast for the two days that we ended up taking at the other hotel they are affiliated with.

The beach is very nice, but the waiters are not so much responsive or quick.
I booked a garden view room, but I got a room with no view, my room view was the isle between rooms.
The breakfast was very good, if only the staff was more quick and responsive, also breakfast time should extend for maybe one more hour.

Everything was perfect! We really enjoyed our stay. The only issue was mosquitos, we got bitten a lot despite using mosquito repellent.

On average, it costs VND 1,043,869 per night to book a 3-star hotel in Kendwa for tonight. You'll pay on average around VND 3,523,332 if you choose to stay in a 4-star hotel tonight, while a 5-star hotel in Kendwa will cost around VND 25,188,654 (based on Booking.com prices).
In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location.
In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location. However, there were some issues to address:
The breakfast had a good variety of food, but unfortunately, warm items were cold. When I requested my sausages to be reheated, they were returned cold, accompanied by a surprised question about wanting them hot. It would be better if the staff anticipated the preference for warm breakfast items.
The bed was so uncomfortable, causing back pain every morning. I tried all sides of mattress, and anyways there was a pit regardless of the position. This might be specific to only my bed, but it needs attention.
The restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices, and the waiters speaks good English and are polite ( except trainees)
Cleanless! Room was clean and tide, but there were several diferent bugs around, but its Africa, you just need to ask to spray your room for bugs (i asked but they never did) and you need to ask for wc paper and ask for clean towels. Water pression in the shower and hot water was very good.
Unfortunately AC didnt wor for last 2 nights. I guess a gas just finished, but noone came to check on it, just excuses about low voltage. Well, when voltage was low even fridge was not working, bet when voltage restored AC and fridge worked excellent. Water got frozen in the fridge in 1h - so thats not a low voltage at all.
Despite the issues, I tought I would consider to come back, but after last 2 nights struggles, I doubt about it.
Particularly I would suggest a room with a sea view and small private pool, keeping in mind that perfection may not exist in every aspect, especially in a place like Zanzibar.

The internet is going to tell you Kendwa has the most beautiful beach in Zanzibar....it has not....not at all....yes, the beach is nice and wide and white.....but there is no vegetation at all, it's full of sunbeds and umbrellas from the resorts/hotels....way to many traders and not much to offer than going up and down, only to then retreat to your hotel or some place with shade....if you come here for drinks or a party, fine, but don't waste all of your vacation here, when there are many other cheaper and more beautiful places on the island...

Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too and I have been a regular beach traveller worldwide for the last 40 years. The only advice I would suggest would be to vet the hotel thoroughly as sunseabar was not upto standard it advertised. Go out into local restaurants we tried 4 different ones all were superb so far superior to the hotel

Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach!
Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach! They welcome you with a delicious fresh tropical juice! It is nice to see local people and fishermen living just next door. In the other hand thou, the front sea is full of boats that make swimming a bit complicated. The staff is very kind. Rooms are sober but clean and furnitures are nicely wooden. Breakfast is in range(no buffet, no choice) but good. Very much recommended place. I would definitely return there.

Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
This is the only area bot effected by tides.
The beach is wonderful and offers great places to eat. Kendwa rocks offers a great BBQ with live entertainment on Saturdays.
this place is GORGEOUS. we switched this resort after reading more reviews of Gold Zanzibar and decided on this place and I’m SOOOO glad we did. our butler Dudi was amazing. EVERYONE. was amazing. the staff here goes above and beyond. our only critique was that (1) the food needed salt - like legit every dish needed salt and (2) the tour when you first arrive was way too long. we were tired and just wanted to unpack and shower while the welcome tour was at least 45 mins. this place is such a hidden gem
This is a budget 2/3 star hotel so just keep your expectations real. For the reasonable price you get access to the awesome beach, where low tide is not an issue unlike in other parts of the island, full sea view (choose high floor) and spacious room.
We stayed with a family of four in 2 interconnected rooms with a fridge and kettle. Modern bathroom, hot water and AC. They have their own generator so you still have electricity and water during shut downs.
Great hospitality - thank you Alexey!
it is not only about the hotel; this one is perfect. the room was perfect, the place amazing, the food, drinks, the beach, the pool, the wellness, everything was perfect
It's all about people working there. they were all so kind, always smiling and always taking care of us
No hesitation please, if you have to go in zanzibar one day, go there at ZURI hotel !!!!
thank you thank you for all that you did and for making our stay so fantastic
we'll miss you
Very nice small hotel of traditional architecture, with a beautiful terrace where customers can enjoy nice food and cocktails and chill out in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly and smiley, always available and ready to help. Flavia and Manuel gave us advice and plenty of tips to fully enjoy our stay in Zanzibar. We appreciated in particular the quiet environment in the proximity of the best beach in Kendwa. Definitely recommended.
we really enjoyed our time at Sansi Kendwa beach resort. The staff were so friendly and made an amazing family and fun atmosphere - it was impossible to not be in a good mood around them. Mohammed from the reception went the extra mile to make our stay as smooth and enjoyable at possible. We really enjoyed the food and activities. We would love to come back and definitely recommend it if you visit Zanzibar! Thank you for everything!
We really enjoyed our stay at Varadero Zanzibar Hotel & Restaurant! The rooms was clean, food was excellent and offered a nice variety, and the staff were so friendly and it was easy to communicate with them in English and French. The hotel's closeness to the beach was the major perk! The beach was fabulously clean and quiet. We can't wait to be back next year!
perfect location on the best beach in zanzibar. Beautiful:)
loads of activities like boat trips, hair braiding, spa treatments, and all the water sports. not to mention the incredible sunset.
We got the bungalow, right next to the beach with a plunge pool, and enjoyed it throughly. If we come back to zanzibar, will definitely book that kind of room again.
We really liked the quiet & serene location of the hotel on Kendwa beach.
Would definitely go back.
The breakfast was our favourite meal of the day!!
Comfortable and adequate rooms.
Karim, Farooq and the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Families, solo travellers and couples...all seemed to comfortably stay there!!
Everything was great! Accommodation quality is amazing for Zanzibar standards but the best thing about this place is Villa's staff, especially Dula. He will help you with EVERYTHING and go the extra mile each time. Location of the place is also great, 4 minutes to the beach, loads of shops and cafes around and it feels safe
Everything was perfect, Beach Bungalow very big and right on the beach. Restaurant very good food and prices, Kendwa beach is superb very clean and very nice water. Garden is very well maintained and very nice scenery.
Amazing people, very helpful and nice. The location is perfect and the apartment was supernice with a lot of space and ok beds. For budget accomodation, this was our best experience on Zanzibar!
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Zanzibar.
Amazing design and room size, located by one of the best beach in Zanzibar, quality food and very quiet in April. We were also allowed a very late check-out at no extra charge.
The location is unbeatable. At the bottom of the steps starts the sand leading to one of the nicest beaches in Zanzibar. It's right next door to restaurants and activities.
The hotel location is very good.
The staff is very nice.
Cleanliness almost ok.
Breakfast at the hotel beach bar.
The rooms on ground floor are without windows.
Excellent value for money!! Close to the best in Kendwa, including the beach, but very relaxed and calm. Renate is a super kind guest and the breakfast was great.
