While Ortesie is slightly larger town, Selva is higher elevation and more quaint alpine village, and better lift access. Busses are free, frequent, and electronic displays accurately show next bus, so visiting Ortesie for dinner or to explore or ski is easy. While we liked Ortesie, I would stay in Selva de Gardena the next time.

Information on the website about the village amenity was very poor. I would have liked more information about the public transport options, timetables etc. Information about the taxi to the horses was out of date and it cost a lot more than it said on the website. The lack of a bus link to other villages was a real drawback for me. And the cost of taxis was exorbitant. Also information about the grocery shops. The shops were very small and expensive. A perfect base to go on hikes. There are so many hiking trails to choose from and plenty cable cars that will take you to the start of the trails. Very lively without being overly crowded with many restaurants, bars and shops so it's convenient. Beautiful place with amazing food wherever you go. Welcoming and friendly. So clean and well presented, the flowers on all the properties are incredible in the summer. So many outdoor activities and such a vast area to explore all within easy reach from the lifts.

One of the most naturally beautiful places I have been to. lovely place - great walks - great amenities - lovely food. Local buses good be better ie operate later in the evening. Prices of some things like the cable cars seemed expensive even for my Italian friends who knew the area well.

Close to restaurants and lifts. Very helpful and friendly staff, making you feel most welcome. Spacious room with a balcony, including a new bathroom. The bed was creatively made up like on a cruise ship. The breakfast was absolutely superb - rich selections and good service. We were there for the summer and after a long day of hiking you can relax in the spa. The hotel has a restaurant for dining.

There was a great bar, tended by the owner who was great host. They offered dinner every night we were there, which was 4 courses and fairly priced. The hotel is beautiful and well equipped. The location is close to chair lifts for mountain exploration, restaurants, and to the local bus from Bolzano that drops you off close to the hotel. This place was awesome! Parking for free (not always easy in Dolomites, so the car doesn´t get frozen at night). The buffet for breakfast was splendid. They gave us a discount for the next year if we book again with them and we´ll probably do.
